Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed retired Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umaru as the new Commissioner for Internal Security.
Prior to his new appointment, Umaru was the Director-General of the Directorate of Special Services at the Government House and Governor Yusuf has charged him to approach his duties with integrity, transparency, and a deep sense of responsibility, prioritizing the safety and security of the state's residents.
Umaru, whose appointment is expected to enhance the state's internal security efforts, leveraging his extensive experience in security management, will play a key role in addressing security challenges and ensuring the well-being of residents.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Government House, with the oath of office administered by the state's Attorney General, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi.
Umaru's background as a retired senior officer of the Nigerian Air Force is anticipated to bring valuable expertise to the state's security apparatus.
