JIGAWA UNCOVERS 7,000 GHOST WORKERS.
The Jigawa State Government has removed approximately 7,000 ghost workers from its payroll after a verification exercise.
The Commissioner for Finance, Hannatu Sabo, who revealed that the workers were removed after they failed to report for verification, said the move demonstrates the government's commitment to transparency and accountability.
Sabo said the verification exercise also led to the recruitment of new employees under the J-Health, J-Teach, and J-Agro programmes, noting that the government pays its employees a decent salary, with 100% of the new salary structure implemented, thereby making it one of the highest-paying states.
The commissioner further said that the government has been receiving additional funds from the Federal Government, which will support development projects, adding that the state has also made significant investments in education and energy, including the purchase of a privately-owned university and acquisition of shares in the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
