Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the recruitment of 17,600 security guards to enhance safety in public schools across the state.

A statement issued on Monday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the guards will be deployed to each of the state's 44 local government areas to protect students and teachers from growing security threats.

According to the statement, the guards will undergo training before being posted to schools, where they will monitor entry and exit points, watch for suspicious activities, and collaborate with conventional security agencies when necessary.

The governor said that the initiative is aimed at ensuring a safe learning environment and protecting the right to education for all children in the state.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of security in educational development, stressing that the government will not allow fear or insecurity to deny children their right to education.

He added that this move is part of his administration's efforts to improve the education sector and provide a secure environment for students to learn and grow.
