The Federal Government is collaborating with the Kogi State Government to build four multi-billion Naira housing estates in the state.
The State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Taiye Abanika, explained in Lokoja on Wednesday, that three estates will be built by the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, while the state government will build a 1,000-unit estate across three senatorial districts and Lokoja metropolis.
Abanika said that the projects, partly funded through Public Private Partnership (PPP), would reduce the housing deficit in Kogi State, noting that the FHA estates will be located at Zariagi, Crusher, and Felele axis, with over 20 hectares of land acquired, adding that the state government, which will also construct 228 semi-detached houses for citizens, especially civil servants, is building a police barrack at Ifegoro along Auchi-Okene road to enhance security personnel's welfare and effectiveness in securing the state.
The Commissioner said these initiatives demonstrate the government's commitment to the well-being of citizens and security in Kogi State.
