The Federal Government has pledged its commitment to implement youth-centered policies to tackle irregular migration.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, made the commitment at the Rabat Process thematic meeting in Abuja, stressing the need for skills, mobility, and dignity in migration governance.

At the meeting, themed "Youth, Education and Innovation – Driving the Future of Migration," which brought together over 100 delegates from 57 partner countries, Yilwatda highlighted the importance of effective partnerships, data-driven approaches, and integrity in achieving desired migration outcomes.

He also stressed the need for shared frameworks that recognize qualifications, return talents, and open safe pathways for migration.

The minister's remarks were echoed by Ambassador-at-Large for Migration Affairs of Spain, Pilar Jimenez, who emphasized the importance of youth participation and co-creation in migration governance.

The meeting ended with a call for sustainable solutions to address the root causes of irregular migration, including conflict, climate change, and economic disparities
