FEDERAL COLLEGES OF EDUCATION TO AW ASRD BACHELOR'S DEGREES.

The Federal Government has launched the Dual Mandate Policy for Federal Colleges of Education, enabling them to award both Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and Bachelor's Degrees in Education, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria's teacher education reform.

A statement signed by the Director of Press at the Federal Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo, said the policy, backed by the Federal Colleges of Education Act 2023, empowers the institutions to offer both NCE and Bachelor's degrees, broadening access to higher education and enhancing classroom instruction quality.

Describing the policy as a "bold and progressive step" that will revolutionize teacher preparation and improve education quality, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said that institutions meeting National Universities Commission standards can participate, regardless of their establishment date.

Alausa said the policy aims to enhance teacher education, increase access to higher education, and improve classroom instruction quality across Nigeria.
